Alice Gust

Alice Gust, 95, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at her residence in Hoffman, MN. Alice was born to Alfred and Elizabeth (Retzlaff) Youngberg on May 2, 1920 on the family farm in Elk Lake Township of Grant County, Minnesota. She was baptized at Swan Lake Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman. She attended school at District 32. Alice married Harold Gust on November 12, 1944. The couple made their living farming until they moved to Hoffman in 1984. Alice also worked as a receptionist for the chiropractor for several years. Alice enjoyed crocheting, quilting and flower gardening. She delighted in coffee gatherings with her flower garden friends and neighbors. Alice volunteered making rugs and crocheting at the nursing home for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Auxiliary, and a member of L.C.M.L. of Zion Church. She always enjoyed having her sons take her for a ride on the country roads while they checked out the deer and pheasants. Survivors include her children, Larry (Bonita), Wayne (Debbie), Gail Uskert (Chuck), Rollin (Joanne), Carlos (Eileen), Glen (Carrie), Kevin (Suzanne); sister, Harriet Schwenk; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Warren, Raymond, Harry, Russell, and sister, Eleanor.
