Alice Miles

On November 10, 2016, at the age of 99, Alice was called to eternal life to be with her Lord. Alice had lived for two and a half years at the Barrett Care Center where she passed away. Alice was the third of six children born to Ole and Alma Nelson on July 16, 1917. She was born in the Barrett, MN area. She went 12 years to Barrett school where she met and married Allen Miles. They farmed near Barrett, had five daughters and one son: Janice, Stanley, Mary Alice, Marilyn, Judy and Carol. After Allen and Alice sold the farm, they moved to Alaska and built a log house with the help of cousin, Clarence Nelson. After 3 ½ years they moved to Longville, MN. Allen passed away in 1989 and Alice moved back to Grant County where she had many relatives and friends. Alice was a homemaker. She was charter member of Grace Evangelical Free Church and a member of the Grant County Homemakers. Alice enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking. She cherished time spent with her family. Alice is survived by four of her six children, Janice (Ed) Koivisto of Portland, OR, Stanley (Dorothy) Miles of Corvallis, OR, Mary Alice Westrom of Phoenix, AZ, Carol (Colin) Robinson of Colorado City, CO; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Alice loved her family deeply. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Alma; her husband, Allen; daughters, Judy and Marilyn; siblings, Borgel, Corrine, Owen, Doris and Lorraine; grandson Mike Westrom. Visitation: 5PM to 7PM Thursday, November 17 at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Elbow Lake. Celebration of Alice's Life: 11:00AM, Friday, November 18, 2016 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Elbow Lake with Reverend Gabriel Norton officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake.
