Anna Haley

May 12, 1924 — February 2, 2015

Anna May was born May 12, 1924, to Mads and Ottina (Dybdal) Rustand in North Ottawa Township. She attended rural school and graduated in 1943 from Elbow Lake High School. Anna May worked for her Uncle Art and Aunt Mildred while attending high school. After graduation, she and two sisters moved to the Twin Cities and worked for a paper company. She returned to Wendell and worked at a general store, and it was then she met the love of her life, William Haley, at the Grant County Fair. They were united in marriage on May 17, 1946. Ann and Bill worked together their entire married life, first on a farm, and when they owned their business, Haley Oil Company. Ann was active in her church, was a Charter member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and a Cub Scout leader. She was a gracious hostess who loved to bake, can pickles, make sauces, and freeze corn. She loved flowers and gardens all her life. She had a joyous laugh, and loved to sing and dance. Ann will be remembered for her generosity to all who knew her. Anna May Haley died peacefully at her home on Monday, February 2, 2015, in Elbow Lake, Minnesota at the age of 90 years. Ann is survived by her five children, Judy (Ed) Anderson of Aitkin, Debbie (Dave) Lewis of Glenrock, WY, Cindy (Dan) Holm of Alexandria, Teri (Ray) Shuck of Elbow Lake, Todd (Judy) Haley of Elbow Lake; twelve grandchildren, Tom (Blair) Anderson, Melanie (Eric) Olson, John Lewis, Carrie Ann (Tyler) Harberts, Jeremy (Kelsey) Holm, William Shuck, Chris Hanson, Megan Shuck, Garrett Haley, Justin Haley, Matthew Kruize, Ben Kruize, Christina Kruize, and ten great-grandchildren.
