Annamarie “Ann” (Winiecki) Frischmon, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on March 9th, 2024.
Ann was from a large Catholic family of 14 children. She was the oldest of the five girls and enjoyed telling stories of her childhood and sibling adventures. She attended Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School in Roseville for grades K-8 and finished school at Mounds View High School.
After meeting her love, William “Bill” Frischmon, in 1961 at a polka dance hall in Withrow, MN, they knew it was meant to be and quickly made lifetime plans, being blessed with three children.
Ann loved being a homemaker and was a member of a local homemaker’s club in the late 70’s. This is where she learned to decorate cakes, expand her baking skills, and enter her creations into local County Fairs with blue ribbon results!
As the three kids got older and more independent, Ann sought employment outside the home. Her most satisfying job was working as a job coach for disabled adult clients at the Alexandria Opportunity Center. She was celebrated with a retirement party after 25 years of service and dedication.
Ann and Bill enjoyed entertaining at their home, having card parties with local couples, and would go on to teach their children and grandchildren how to play and spend quality time together around the kitchen table while gently razzing all the players with great hands of cards. Everyone looked forward to and made time for their favorite card game called ’65.’
Although Ann was not partial to drinking, she enjoyed going to supper clubs with family members and playing an occasional round of pull tabs. She liked to visit with everyone and delighted in any win, big or small!
Ann also enjoyed being outside in her gardens. She loved having an apple orchard and full vegetable garden and would freeze or can the fall harvest for healthy meals well into the winter and spring. The apples were used to make her famous Apple Pie Bars and were a frequently requested treat by her grandchildren. Her flower gardens were beautiful as well, filled with peonies, lilies, marigolds, irises, sedums, and a host of other beauties that surrounded a statue of the Blessed Mary.
Ann recovered from both full knee replacement surgeries over the past two years. She took her recovery, exercises, and follow-up appointments seriously and was looking forward to traveling and seeing destinations that she had put off due to knee pain.
Ann is survived by her beloved children: son Greg (Cindy), her daughter Jean (Mike), and daughter Katie; adored grandchildren: Peter, Elisabeth, Dane, and Drew; siblings John (Nancy), Martha, Emily (Larry), Tom (Estelle), Dorothy, George (Christine), Mark, David (Karen), and Sr. Mary Ellen; Frischmon brothers-in-law John (Janet) and John Hamilton, Winiecki sisters-in-law Jean, Pat, Jeanne, and Bobbi, and many nephews and nieces. Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, William “Bill,” by her parents Frank and Josephine, her father and mother-in-law John and Loretta, brothers Frank Jr., Richard, James, and Robert, as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law: Bob, Otto, Joie, Mary (Bud), Alice, Sr. Bernadine, Audrey, Janet, James, and Yvette.
Ann was a gentle, kind, loving, and supportive mother and grandmother. Her knowledge and guidance were the foundation of her family. Her unfaltering faith in Jesus and adoration of the Blessed Mary were always present, and her family takes great comfort knowing that she is experiencing unimaginable peace and happiness in Heaven.
