Ansem Ackerson

Ansem Ackerson, 88, rural Barrett, entered into God's loving arms on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Stevens' Homes Plus, rural Barrett.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake.

Clergy: Rev. Nathan Thompson

Visitation: One hour prior to the service

Burial: Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake

Ansem was born on the family farm in Erdahl Township, Grant County, on December 18, 1922, to Vance and Altha(Kuchenbecker) Ackerson. He attended country school and graduated from high school in Elbwo Lake in 1940. On December 30, 1945, Ansem and Audrey L. Melby were married at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They lived on the family farm, and he farmed there for over 60 years.As a member of the Erdahl Lutheran Church, Ansem served on the church council and was township supervisor for 24 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Minnesota and Montana, gardening, bowling, and he and Audrey also enjoyed traveling. Ansem had a love ove life, the great outdoors, and his family. He had a kind heart and a willingness to help anyone who was in need. His love of farmoing ran deep, as he was out on a tractor into his 80's.Survivors include his wife Audrey; daughters Cindy (Delmont) Allen of Mayville, North Dakota, and Vicki Danielowski of Mongomery, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Stephani (Chad) Blehr, Shana (Jason) Stevens, Rachel Brown, Jennie (Marshall) Coleman, and Laura (Doug) Miller; eleven great-grandchildren, Mathew, Nicholas, and McKenna Blehr, Jaden and McKaylyn Stevens, Taliah and Jaxson Brown, Mitchell and Brynley Coleman, and Mashae and Mavrick Miller; and two brothers, Orvin (Jean) Ackerson of Ashby, Minnesota, and Jacky (Madonna) of Georgia. Ansem's son-in-law, Delmont Allen, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.
