Ardis Ronhovde

Ardis Ronhovde, 90, rural Barrett, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Barrett Care Center.
Ardis DeLaine was born on April 30, 1926, at home in Lien Township to Palmer and Bertina (Swenson) Pederson. She was a very sick baby and was baptized at home by Reverend O. G. Aasen when she was four days old. Her sponsors were Olaf and Lizzie Hjelle, Albert Swenson and her father, Palmer. She was confirmed by Rev. Ivar Sandberg in 1940. Ardis has had church memberships with Bethesda Lutheran Church, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church, all Barrett.
Ardis attended country school through seventh grade at District 53, in Lien Township and then Barrett High School, graduating in 1944. She went on to attend the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She was employed with Citizens State Bank of Barrett and later as a secretary for the Barrett School. She was also a bookkeeper for many years for Ed Zimmerman Construction.
Ardis and Merton Ronhovde were married on October 9, 1948, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barrett by Reverend Ivar Sandberg. Together they worked the family farm and raised four children: Kay, Lee, Todd and Clyde. Ardis devoted her life to caring for her family.
Ardis enjoyed her many friends, bird watching, quilting and volunteering. She was still an active member of Peace Lutheran's Ever Blessed Quilters and was a regular volunteer for Barrett Senior Citizens. She loved to travel, and especially enjoyed a trip to Norway with her sister-in-law Lou Score. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ardis is survived by her children: Kay Robison; Lee (Pat) Ronhovde; and Todd (Sheila) Ronhovde all of Barrett; eight grandchildren: Jody Jenstad, Thomas and Lake; Eugene (Michelle) Jenstad and Amber; Jill (Matthew) Phyle, Ashley, Spencer, Savanah and Shianne; Anna (Tom) Edens and Hadley; Gina Ronhovde; Megan (Dave) Rahe, Daniel, Matthew and Jonah; Mitch (Britney Bevins) Ronhovde and DeLaine (Dave) Schmidt; one great-great-grandson: Logan; and by numerous relatives and friends. Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, Merton; son, Clyde; her parents, Palmer and Bertina Pederson; her brother, P. Clifton "Kip" Pederson; and her son-in-law Gene Robison.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett.
Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 PM at Peace Lutheran Church and will resume one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
