Carole Formo

Carole Ann was born on July 21, 1943, in Elbow Lake, MN, the daughter of Alvin Roy and Edna Emma Clara (Biss) Christopherson. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith in Elbow Lake and was confirmed at the ELCA Church in St. Paul, MN. Carole attended school in St. Paul and Elbow Lake, and then attended beauty school.

On August 18, 1962, she married Gene W. Formo at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton. Carole was the homemaker of the family, and later she worked various jobs, before opening South 40 Rec. Center in Elbow Lake with her husband, Gene. Carole also traveled with Gene as he worked at various jobs in the surrounding states. The family resided in Dalton, Elbow Lake, Arizona, Willmar, and in 1987, they made their home in Barrett.

Carole enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, playing cards, dancing, and music. She loved sitting outside listening to the songbirds. She had a talent of playing drums, the accordion and organ by ear.  Everyone longed for her dill pickles and amazing mac tuna salad. Most of all, Carole loved spending time with her family and friends.

With her family at her side, Carole died at her residence on May 17, 2022, at the age of seventy-eight years, under the care of Knute-Nelson Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Edna Christopherson; husband, Gene Formo; son, Brian Formo and sister, Alva (Ervin) Lohse. Carole is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Rick) Lock of Barrett, MN; 5 grandchildren, Courtney and Jarred Lock, Will (Amber) Formo, Jackson Formo, Lindsey (Steve) Clem; 5 great grandchildren, Luna, Samantha, Rachel, Mallory and Justin; daughter-in-law, Julie Formo; sister-in-law, Clarice Gutliph of Florida; brother-in-law, John Hovland of Dalton along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.

Memorial Service: 1:30 P.M., Saturday, June 18, 2022, at United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
