Christine Spaulding, 69, of Barrett, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Barrett Care Center, surrounded by her family. Christine Marrida Myron was born on July 19, 1946 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Harold and Marrida (Bjerke) Myron. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church, and attended Ten Mile Lake Country School, through the eighth grade. Chris graduated from Elbow Lake High School, and went on to attend Moorhead State University and the University of Minnesota Morris, obtaining her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. On December 11, 1965, Christine married Robert Spaulding at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church, and they were blessed with a daughter, Gayle. Chris started her career as a head start teacher with West Central Minnesota Community Action, eventually becoming the director of head start programs for the seven-county area, retiring in the 1990's. In 1996, Chris and Bob began wintering in Mission, Texas, and continued their annual trips until just this last year. In retirement, Chris had a passion for Genealogy, and made three trips to Norway over the years. Bob and Chris were also very active with the Grant County Historical Society and served on the board. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she served on the church council, and was involved with WELCA and bible studies. She also enjoyed the work she did with Trinity Lutheran Church in Texas and also did mission work at His Hands Mission. Most important to Chris though, was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. Chris is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob of Barrett; daughter, Gayle (Tim) Coleman of Hoffman; three grandchildren, Alex (fiancée Ashley) Coleman, Ted Coleman, and Ally Coleman, all of Hoffman; one great-grandson, Zander Coleman; four siblings, Ted (Jane) Myron, Kurt (Mary) Myron, and Mark Myron, all of Elbow Lake, and Kathy (Patrick) Mahoney of Eagle River, Alaska; mother, Marrida Myron of Elbow Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
