Clara Nohre

Clara Nohre, a loving and loved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker, passed away on September 18, 2013, at the age of 104 at the Barrett Care Center. Family members were at her bedside when she took the last breath of a long life lived with grace and generosity. Clara was born to her Norwegian immigrant parents, Amund and Johanna Nordby, on May 12, 1909, at her parents' homestead farm in Delaware Township of Grant County, Minnesota. She was the oldest of eight children; all her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She was baptized at Bethania Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the Christian faith at Ness Lutheran Church at Elbow Lake in 1924. A marriage of 59 years to Melvin Nohre, of Elbow Lake, began on their wedding day of December 1, 1934. The couple moved to Elbow Lake, where they lived together until Melvin died at the age of 89. A few years later, Clara moved into an apartment at the Barrett Assisted Living Center. Clara and Melvin's life centered around providing and caring for each other and their children, Allen(Kathie) Nohre of Carefree, Arizona, Marland(friend Shirley of Fargo) Nohre of Alexandria, Minnesota, Joyce(Ollie) Olson of Fargo, and Janice (Lyle) Krusemark of Elbow Lake. Janice passed away at the age of 52 in 1992, after a sudden and short illness. Clara loved having her eight grandchildren stay at her home. She is also survived by them, Tom (Kari) Krusemark of Elbow Lake, Joel(Kristi) Krusemark of Morris, Minnesota, Liva(Kevin) Nohre of Peoria, Arizona, Karl(Debbie) Nohre of Minneapolis, Leif(friend Toni) Nohre of Alexandria, Peter(Kate) Nohre of Minnetonka, Matt(Jami) Olson of Fargo, North Dakota, and Keely(Ryan) Johnson of St. Michael, Minnesota. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Hope and Abby Krusemark; Luke, Logan, and Olivia Olson; Brock and Brady Krusemark; Nicole Nohre; and Henrik Nohre.
