Clareen Bartness

Clareen Evangeline Bartness, 95, of Elbow Lake, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 9, 2017.
She was born on April 1, 1922, in Elbow Lake township, the first child of Clarence and Esther Mobraaten.
Clareen enjoyed music, dancing, and played the organ for enjoyment. She loved time with her family and it was always her number one priority. She was a lover of cats and had her dear Mia (Siamese), for 19 years. Clareen cherished her friends very deeply. Many would say they were made to feel as her family. Growing up on a farm, cooking with her mother, and falling in love with her husband during WWII, were stories she loved to share.
Clareen graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1940 and went to work in the Grant County Courthouse in 1941. She enjoyed serving the people of her community. She treasured her coworkers and the public during her 64 years of dedicated service. Clareen was also a long time member of United Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake, MN.
Clareen is survived by her granddaughter, Lisa (Bartness) Reich (Dr. Brent) of Billings, MT; her grandson, Eric Bartness of New Hampton, IA; and her only great-grandchild, Liv Reich(13) of Billings, MT.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Clarence and Esther; her brother, Marlyn "Buddy" Mobraaten; and her only child, Gary Bartness.
Her grandchildren express their gratitude to the staff of Barrett Care Center for their exceptional care and loving kindness. Also, a heartfelt thank you for all those friends that visited her.
Funeral Service: 11 AM Saturday, April 15, 2017, at United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment: West Elbow Lake Lutheran Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Barrett Care Center.
