Colleen Spittle, 62, of Elbow Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
Colleen Marie Dornburg was born on August 17, 1954 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Alvin and Marlene (Stine) Dornburg. She attended school in Underwood, graduating from Underwood High School in 1972. Colleen attended Alexandria Technical College and earned her clerical diploma.
She moved to Elbow Lake, where she met and married Sid Spittle in 1976, and they were blessed with two children.
Colleen worked as a bookkeeper at the Elbow Lake School and various jobs around town, ultimately focusing her time and attention on caring for her family. In her spare time, Colleen enjoyed gardening, dancing, kayaking, traveling, playing cards, puzzles, ceramics, and spending time with her grandchildren, her family, and her friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, served on the Elbow Lake City Council, and was active at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett.
Colleen is survived by her two children, Jared (Kari) of Maurice, Louisiana and Nicole (Cory) Chaput of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Hayden, Jackson, Carter, and one on the way; her mother, Marlene (Melvin) Anderson of Fergus Falls, MN; four siblings, Curt (Norma) Dornburg of Chatham, Louisiana, Carolee (Alvin) Peterson of Battle Lake, MN, Cindy (Larry) Drechsel of Henderson, Nevada, and Cheryl (Floyd) Larson of Dalton, MN; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Dornburg; and her spouse, Sid.
Visitation: 4 – 6 PM Sunday, at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake, and one hour prior to services at the church.
