Danny Aanenson

 Danny Lee Aanenson 81, of Kensington, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Alomere Health in Alexandria. His Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church in Kensington. There will be a visitation one hour prior.

Danny Lee Aanenson was born on February 11, 1944, to Alvin and Norma (Hanson) Aanenson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He graduated from Kensington High School in 1963. After high school, Danny enlisted in the United States Army until 1965. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Bellanca Aircraft, and TWF Manufacturing.

On September 6, 1975, Danny married Virginia Wiederholt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, MN. After they were married, the couple made their home in Hoffman. They were blessed with a daughter, Jessica; and later two grandsons, Evan and Carter, and a grandpup, Winston.

Danny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and his family would go camping at places such as Carlos State Park and Itasca State Park. He would take his grandsons to movies, play cards, and taught them how to shoot a BB gun. Most of all, they enjoyed going to garage sales together, bringing home whatever treasures they would find. Danny enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing and hunting. He and his grandsons enjoyed hunting and had a shared respect for the craftsmanship of hunting equipment. He was an avid card player and took part in many card games with family and friends. Danny enjoyed working in his garden, planting flowers and feeding the birds and squirrels. He especially enjoyed casino trips, and playing BINGO with his family.

Danny is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Jessica Mohagen; grandsons, Evan and Carter Mohagen; siblings, Douglas Aanenson, David Aanenson, Dean (Michelle) Aanenson, and Dawn Johnson; nieces and nephews, Becky (DuWayne) Douvier, Addie (Erick) Stark, and Samantha Johnson; great nieces and nephews, Annika Aanenson, Marisa (Autumn) Graleske-Aanenson, Zachary Aanenson, DJ Douvier, Dilyn Douvier, Molly Douvier, Claire Stark, Mikaylah (Kyle) Zimmerman and Hailey (Chase) Torkelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Norma; siblings, Donald Aanenson, Diana Aanenson; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
