Doris Larson

Doris Larson, 97, long-time resident of Grant County, died Sunday, May 3, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. Funeral services for Doris Larson will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Bethlehem/West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, the Rev. Weston Moir officiating. Burial will be in the West Elbow Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church two hours before the service on Friday. Doris Benson Larson, daughter of Sigrud and Jose (Peterson) Benson was born March 19, 1912, in Elk Lake Township, Grant County. She attended school at Hoffman and was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Hoffman. In 1935, on April 21st, she married Alder Larson of Wendell. They continued to live in that area until 1973, when they retired from farming and moved into Wendell. She was always active in her community and church. She is survived by two children, Allen (Janet) Larson of Fergus Falls and Arlene Hegge of Fergus Falls; grandchildren Tabby Larson of Thief River Falls, and Robert Larson of Roseau; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alder, three brothers, and five sisters.
