Dorretta Gran

April 4, 1919 — April 20, 2014

Dorretta Undena Kiszer was born on April 4, 1919, at Roswell, South Dakota, to James and Julia (Burghardt) Kiszer. She was baptized in the Catholic Church, attended grade school in Roswell and graduated from high school in 1937 in nearby Fedora. In 1940, she moved to Hoffman, Minnesota, where she kept house for her brother until he left for the Army in 1941. On September 5, 1942, Undena was united in marriage to Thomas Clifford Noid in Morris, and the couple farmed on Cliff's home farm on the Stevens/Grant County line until 1974, when they retired and moved into Hoffman. Following Cliff's death on April 10, 1977, Undena became involved in many volunteer roles in the Hoffman community. She served on several committees for the Hoffman Senior Citizens, the Grant County Committee on Aging board, and was an active member of Lands Lutheran Church, which later became Messiah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling and took several bus tours throughout most of the United States, including Alaska, and Canada, as well. Undena also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and playing cards and visiting with her many friends at the Senior Center. On August 3, 1991, Undena married Leon Gran. After Leon's death on October 21, 2000, she remained active in the Hoffman community and with the Hoffman Senior Citizens. Survivors include her brother Donald (Marlene) Kiszer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother-in-law Jerry Gran of Atlanta, Georgia; two step-sons, Paul (Rhonda) Gran of Hoffman and David (Ann) Gran of East Lake Mary, near Alexandria, and one step-daughter, Grace Stier of Hoffman; six step-granddaughters and three step-grandsons; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Julia Kiszer, husbands Clifford Noid and Leon Gran, five siblings and their spouses, Maynard, Cleophas, Irene, Marlyon and Yvonne, and step-son-in-law Russell Stier.
