She was baptized on May 2, 1920, at the Erdahl N.E.L. Congregation where she was also confirmed. Edie attended District 13 country school and graduated from Elbow Lake High School. She married Osborne "Ozzie" Thomas Germundson at Elbow Lake on October 30, 1939. To this union four children were born. She farmed with her husband for 14 years before moving to Elbow Lake. Ozzie worked for an implement dealer and later a car dealership. He passed away on July 19, 1972. Edie's career began as a waitress, and she worked for over 46 years. She worked in several different establishments, Olson's CafAC., The Glende Hotel, Barrett Inn, Korner CafAC., Heartland CafAC., the Elbow Lake Bakery, and most recently at McCarthy's Supper Club. Edie had a zest for life that was hard to compare, and she loved being around people. She enjoyed music, playing cards, fishing, and most important to her was being with and having fun with her family and friends. She and Ozzie never missed a Saturday night dance at the Barrett Pavilion or the Cat's Eye on Sundays. In the five years since moving to the Clearwater Suites, Edie made many dear new friends. She was known as "Sweetie Edie" to everyone there (a nickname her son-in-law tagged her with). She was rarely found in her room and spent countless hours in the office with Doris Deml, the manager of Clearwater Suites. Doris fondly referred to Edie as her "office assistant."
