Edwin Enga

Edwin Enga, 84, Hoffman, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Bethany Community in Alexandria. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman with the Rev. Carol Olson officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Edwin was born on December 15, 1928, in Minneota, Minnesota, to Nicolai Anreas Mayer and Mabel (Broughton) Enga and grew up on the family farm with eight siblings. He attended school in Minneota and worked for neighbors and owned his own team of horses and a hay wagon at age 12. At age 18, Edwin moved to the Twin Cities with his brother Lee and went to work for Minnegasco, which later became CenterPoint Energy, where he worked for the next 40 years. He met and married Mary Therrien in 1956 in Minneapolis, and the couple had four children: Jeffrey, James, Jerald and Pamela. After retirement, Edwin moved to Red Rock Lake near Hoffman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cribbage and solitaire, and was a likeable friendly man. He will be remembered as a great father who loved to play catch with his children. He was loved by all. Survivors include his children Jeffrey of Hoffman, James (Kathy) of Apple Valley, and Pamela (Charles) Lamb of Annandale; five grandchildren, Alisha, Andrew and Megan Enga and Penelope and Kristina Lamb; one great-grandchild, Rylan Wacker; and siblings Lee Enga of Andover, Arlett Jones of Chesapeake Bay, North Carolina, Norma (Harold) Serumgard of Robbinsdale and Joan Mosher of Beltrami. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jerald, and siblings Gordon, George, Deanna and Joyce.
