Mrs. Lincoln (Florence) Horst, 95, rural Wendell, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Funeral services for Florence Horst will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21, at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Elbow Lake with Pastor Don Trulson officiating. Burial will be in the Hereford Cemetery, Wendell. Friends may call at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake from 4-6 pm on Friday; visitation will resume on Saturday at the church one hour before the service. The daughter of Ole K. and Hulda (Larson) Rustand, Florence Edna Rustand was born September 4, 1913, in North Ottawa Township, Grant County. There she received her education in rural District No. 66, graduating from Elbow Lake High School in 1929. She worked at Mohagen Drug in Wendell for many years. On October 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lincoln Horst at Willmar, Minnesota. They farmed in North Ottawa Township. Florence was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church of Elbow Lake, and enjoyed cleaning, baking, gardening, listening to music, and reading the Bible. She is survived by her step-son Rodney (Carolyn) Horst of Wendell; two grandchildren: Melody (Joel) Fjestad of Elbow Lake and Brian (Elizabeth Varghese) Horst of St. Paul; three great-grandchildren: Crystal (Aaron) Kloos of West Fargo, North Dakota, Bridget (Mike) Maresh of Fargo, North Dakota, and Zachary Rustand of Texas. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Lincoln, who passed away April 12, 1995, her parents, brother Arthur, sister Ethel, and sister-in-law Goldie.
