Idella Clow, 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the Barrett Care Center.
Idella was born in Sanford Township, Grant County, Minnesota, on October 15, 1923, to Bernt and Ida (Miland) Ostenson. She was baptized and confirmed by Pastor Ivar Sandberg at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Barrett. She attended grade school in District #60 in Sanford Township and graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture at Morris, Minnesota. After graduating, Idella worked for a year at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington. On October 4, 1947, she married Carrol Clow at her parents' home, and the couple had three children, Steven, Beth, and Mitchell. Idella worked for the Elbow Lake Laundromat for ten years, and for the next 15 years, she worked at Mohagen's Hardware. She taught Sunday school at St. John's Lutheran Church and was currently a member of the United Lutheran Church where she was active in Dorcas and the ULCW. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens in Elbow Lake. Idella was a person with many talents and skills all the way from being a "master plumber" to "seamstress extraordinaire." She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, playing cards, doing any type of craft and hand work, volunteering, and especially spending time with family and friends. Idella is survived by her children Steven (Susan) Clow of Fergus Falls, Beth Palm of Elbow Lake, and Mitchell (Janet) Clow of Barrett; grandchildren Chad (Karla) Clow, Amy (Ron) Erickson, Ben Clow, Luke (Ketty) Clow, and Jason (Diana) Clow; and great-grandchildren Erik, Ella, Maren, and Makayla Clow, Landon, Hunter and Beri Clow, and Kayla and Kelsi Baber. Other survivors include her brother Thomas Ostenson of Irvine, California, and sister Wilma (John) Bornholdt of Thief River Falls, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carrol, brother Clarence, and sisters Cora Munson and Sharon Vikesland, and sister-in-law Connie Ostenson.

Burial: Immanmuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Barrett
Visitation: 3-5 pm Sunday, Jan 3, Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Elbow Lake; one hour prior to service at church on Monday.
