James Endreson, 90, of Elbow Lake, formerly of Erdahl, died Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. James LeRoy was born on September 11, 1924, in Hoffman, MN, (Roseville Township), the son of Norman and Ethel (Engebretson) Endreson. In 1937, the family moved to Erdahl where he was baptized and confirmed at Erdahl Lutheran Church and attended country grade school. After Country school, James attended WCSA Ag School in Morris, MN for three years. In December 1944, James was called into WWII where he completed basic training in Camp Wolters, Texas. In June of 1945, he was shipped overseas in a convoy where he served in the Philippine Islands. James later completed amphibious training and was sent to Korea where he faithfully served until his honorable discharge. On October 17, 1948, he married Irene Clare Olson in Erdahl Lutheran Church. James worked miscellaneous jobs including carpentry before purchasing his parents farmstead where they farmed the land for many years. James along with his wife, Irene, served as church custodians at Erdahl Lutheran Church for 24 years. James pastimes included listening to polka music, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Minnesota Twins games. He enjoyed playing Scrabble, doing word finds and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Ethel; his loving wife, Irene and a sister, Inez Giles. He is survived by his seven children, Steven (Kathy) Endreson of Dalton, MN, Sonja Velez of Farmington, MN, Madeline Anderson of Dalton, Harlan (Valerie) Endreson of Wasilla, AK, Michael (Sonja) Endreson of Montrose, CO, Mark (LaDeen) Endreson of Alexandria, MN and Darwin (Dawn) Endreson of Coon Rapids, MN; a sister, Delores Flint; grandchildren, Tony, Dan, Matthew, Jason, Emily, Kristel, Christopher, Benjamin, Nicholas, Caleb, Megan, Taylor, Ryan and Cody; numerous step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Brady, Alex, Elin, Gavin, Kaycee, Tenley, Mason, Tyson, Hannah, Holly, Jude, and Peder, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
