Jean Carol Ackerson was born on February 5, 1924, in Dassel, Minnesota the daughter of John Axel and Lottie Eleanor (DeLong) Sallberg.   She graduated as Valedictorian from the Dassel High School in 1941, then continued her education at Teachers College in St. Cloud for 1 ½ years.

Jean and Orvin Kenneth Ackerson were married on September 20, 1947, in the First Lutheran Church in Dassel.  They lived in Elbow Lake where she was employed as a teacher with Program Assistants with Grant County.  Jean then worked twenty-one years with ASCS, with Department of Agriculture, in Elbow Lake.   In 1953, she joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake.  She taught Sunday School for many years and belonged to LCW where she had served as president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.  She was also a member of the church choir for years.  Jean was an excellent seamstress, baker and cook and enjoyed entertaining people at her home.

She is survived by two children, Lee (Barbara) Ackerson of Plymouth and Bonnie (John) Augustyn of Villa Rica, Georgia; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Kirby (Jody) Lesto, Kiana and Brooke,  Mindy Lesto, Tyler and Alexa, and Tawney (Josh) Jameson, Sascha and Lola; brother-in-law, Jack (Madonna) Ackerson; and by numerous relatives and friends.  Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin; parents, John and Lottie Sallberg; sister, Dorothy Middleton; and brother-in-law, Ansem (Audrey) Ackerson.

Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

Interment: Union Cemetery in Elbow Lake.
