Jeanne (Mrs. Frank) Sandberg, 69, of Elbow Lake, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Jeanne was born April 23, 1940, in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, to John and Hazel (Marken) Erickson. She grew up in Crookston. She graduated from Crookston High School, where she was active in the Drum and Bugle Corp., and enjoyed skiing and ice skating. She also taught Sunday school during high school. Following graduation, Jeanne attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and worked as an executive secretary for Snyder Drug, Red Owl, and Gambles. She was married to Frank Sandberg on September 1, 1967, and the couple lived in the Twin Cities, In 1981, Jeanne retired, and she and Frank moved back to the Elbow Lake area. A talented artist who enjoyed painting landscapes and buildings, she was a member of the "Art of the Lakes" in Battle Lake and the art group in Alexandria. Jeanne was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. Jeanne is survived by her husband Frank of Elbow Lake; one sister, JoAnn Erickson of Los Angeles, California, and one brother, John "Sonny" Erickson of Frazier Park, California, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
