Kathleen “Kitty” Rosin, 87, of Elbow Lake, died on Friday, July 17, 2020, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Kitty was born on February 1, 1933, in Grant County, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernhardt “Ben” and Betsy (Christianson) Spohnholtz. She was baptized on March 30, 1933 at St. John’s Church in Elbow Lake and confirmed at Bethel Church in Herman. She attended elementary schools in Norcross and Alberta, and graduated from Herman High School in 1951.

On September 6, 1953, Kitty married Virgil Rosin at Bethel Church, Herman. To this union, 5 children were born, Greg, Lynn, Kevin, Dawn & Jerome.

Kitty went on to further her education at St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in 1954 with an RN degree. Kitty worked as a RN at St. Barnabas in Minneapolis. The family later moved to Cokato where she worked as a nurse in Cokato, Litchfield and Hutchinson hospitals. Then upon moving to Wisconsin, Kitty worked at a clinic in Glenwood City, WI and Menomonie Hospital in Menomonie, WI. The family returned in 1961 to Elbow Lake, where Kitty worked at Community Memorial Hospital as Director of Nurses. She became assistant administrator and later administrator at the hospital.

Kitty retired in 1974. Following retirement, she worked as a staff nurse in Elbow Lake, Morris and Hoffman. In 2015, at the age of 82, she finally gave up her nursing license.

In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, Facebook (to keep up with family), roses, gardening, and traveling anywhere she had family. She was very active with her church.

Kitty is survived by her husband, Virgil Rosin of Elbow Lake; children, Greg (Janet) Rosin of Elbow Lake, Lynn (Michael) Marks of Norcross, Kevin (Cindy) Rosin of St. Bonifacius, Dawn (Ray) Stach of Bertha, and special son (Jack) Raymond (Peggy) Sieben of Mission Hills, SD; sister, Melba Ortiz of Elk River and sister-in-law, Claire Spohnholtz of Monticello; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 special grandchildren, and all the other children and young adults that got to call her Grandma Kitty.

Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerome in infancy, 1 great-grandchild, Jonathan; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria & Milton Anderson; brothers, Roy Spohnholtz and David Spohnholtz; brother-in-law, Trinidad Ortiz; and grandson-in-law, Matt Lepak.

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, July 24 at Christ Lutheran Church, In Elbow Lake, with a Private Family Prayer Service at 7:30PM, and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Christ Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake

Clergy: Pastor Bill Aufdenkamp and Pastor Donald Wagnor

Interment: Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake
