DALTON

Keith Stanley Mickelson, aged 70, of Dalton, MN, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on November 2, 1954, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Elvin and Ivonne (Haraldson) Mickelson, Keith was a true embodiment of kindness and generosity.

From an early age, Keith established himself as a dedicated individual, becoming a proud member of the FFA during his time at Elbow Lake High School, from which he graduated in 1972. His roots in his brother’s family farm shaped his strong work ethic, and he spent many hours working alongside his brothers. On September 27, 1980, he married the love of his life, Debra Jean Howard, at St. Wendelin's Church in Luxemburg, MN. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Kari and Troy, who became the center of his world.

Keith enjoyed a fulfilling career working with Mendelson’s Egg Plant in Elbow Lake and lastly with the Grant County Highway Department, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2011. Beyond his professional life, Keith embraced a variety of interests, from fishing and hunting to lawn mowing and snow blowing. An avid Minnesota Vikings fan, he brought enthusiasm and spirit to every game day, cheering passionately for his team. A true family man, Keith was often seen at his children's and grandchildren's extracurricular activities, weaving a tapestry of support that would last a lifetime.

Known for his friendly demeanor and ready smile, Keith had the remarkable ability to connect with everyone he crossed paths with. His gift for hospitality was evident in the gatherings he hosted, always making guests feel special and well-fed. His commitment to helping others and never rushing through a conversation demonstrated the depth of his love for family and friends. Pets held a special place in Keith's heart, especially his beloved Boston Terriers, who brought him immense joy.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Ivonne; a sister, Sandra Mickelson; and a niece, LaChelle Bergerud. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Mickelson of Dalton, MN; children, Kari (Tom) House of Elbow Lake and Troy (Emily) Mickelson of Ashby, MN; brothers, Frank (Ethel) Mickelson of Elbow Lake and Roger (Betty) Mickelson of Dalton, MN; eight grandchildren, Drew, Robbie, Ben, Ella, Andie, Faith, Lilly and Mimmy; one great grandchild, Bentley; his four- legged friend, Tootsie and numerous family and friends.
