Leona Paulson

Leona Paulson died peacefully in her sleep the morning of Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the age of ninety-eight years.

Leona (Rabidue) Paulson was born December 23, 1920 to Gertrude Gable and Gene Rabidue in South Dakota. Leona’s mother remarried Ben Wellfering when Leona was a young child and they lived in Newell and Spearfish, SD.

In 1940, Leona was united in marriage to Royce Paulson in Bottineau, ND. To this union 3 children were born, Ralph, LeRoy and Darel. Royce worked for the Soo Line Railroad in Balta, ND and Hoffman, MN in 1964, where Leona worked for the Hoffman Nursing Home; and lastly Rosholt, SD. In 1979, they retired to a home at Strawberry Lake, MN.  Royce passed away in 1983. Leona set up home near Hoffman in 1990, and the Barrett Care Nursing Home in 2002.

Leona was a kind, loving wife and mother, and family was very important to her.  She was an avid gardener and loved watching and tending to her flowers and vegetables. She was an excellent cook and hosted many large family get-togethers throughout her married years and beyond.

Leona was proceeded in death by her mother, father, brothers, her sister Marjorie, and her husband Royce. She is survived by her sons, Ralph and wife Renae of Willits, CA, their children Lisa and Dusty; LeRoy Paulson of Hoffman, MN; and Darel and wife Jody of Perley, MN and sons, Jesse and Michael; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 3:00 PM Monday, June 17, 2019 at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Hoffman, MN with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM.
