Leslie "Butch" Folken passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND at the age of seventy years. Leslie Brenton Folken was born on November 26, 1945, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Waldemar and Ione (Rugroden) Folken. He graduated from the Elbow Lake High in 1963. Butch entered the U.S. Air Force serving from 1963 to 1967 as a Security Policeman at the Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota. Butch and Linda Jenson were married on August 27, 1966. After his military discharge he attended flight school in Fargo. Butch did aerial spraying, and then owned American Aerial Photography, taking and selling aerial pictures. Butch also owned and operated Folken Chevrolet for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and truly reveled in racing stock cars. Butch was a member of the Elbow Lake American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Kris Folken of Dallas, Texas, and Brent Folken of Clitherall; sister, Gail (Larry) Stephens of Elbow Lake; and by numerous relatives and friends. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Waldemar and Ione Folken; and by three siblings, Pat Hagen, Kenwood Folken and Sandra Macnamara. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
