Lorraine LeBrun, 90, formerly of Elbow Lake, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010, at the Barrett Care Center. Funeral services for Lorraine LeBrun will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 15, 2010, at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Elbow Lake with Fr. Arlie Sowada officiating. Burial will be in St. Loretto's Catholic Cemetery, Elbow Lake. Friends may call at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake on Thursday from 5-7 pm; a prayer service will begin 7pm. Visitation will resume at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Lorraine Theresa was born on December 20, 1919, in Iona, Minnesota, to Carl and Gertrude (Koob) Appel. She graduated from St. Columbia High School in 1937. On June 16, 1942, she married James LeBrun in Lismore, Minnesota. They had three children and farmed around Lismore until moving to Elbow Lake in 1958. Lorraine was an active member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church where she had served on the parish council and as a trustee for several years, served as president of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and worked with the mission group. She worked at the Elbow Lake Bakery and Hanson Drug for many years. She was a league bowler and went to the national tournaments 13 times. Lorraine also enjoyed golf, dances, cards, the casinos and visits with grandkids, and trips to Arizona and California. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Dick (Anita) of Mille Lacs Lake, Judilee (Bob) Smith of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Jim (Mary) of Queens Creek, Arizona; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Fath of Alexandria, Lee Mackedanz of Robbinsdale, and Marty Peterson of Florida. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband James (1973).
