Mable Mohagen, 90, of Barrett, (long time resident of Wendell) passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. Funeral services for Mable Mohagen will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 14, at the Bethlehem/West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake with the Rev. Weston Moir officiating. Burial will be in the West Elbow Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake on Friday from 5-8 pm; a prayer service will be held at 7 pm. Visitation will resume at the church on Saturday one hour before the service. Mable was born on March 10, 1919, to Fred and Sophia (Schmidt) Hasse. She grew up in rural Campbell and received her education in Nashua and Elliot. She was confirmed on April 9, 1933, by the Rev. O. W. Rhode. She helped on the family farm until her marriage to Burnett Mohagen on October 27, 1943. The couple made their home on Burnett's family farm south of Wendell until May of 1980, when they moved into Wendell. Burnett passed away on March 22, 1985. For the past couple of years, Mable lived in Barrett at the Rolling Hills Residence. Mable enjoyed dancing, playing guitar and singing, dogs, playing cards (especially Whist), Bingo, traveling out west, and watching and listening to the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of the West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and active in the Wendell Senior Citizens. Mable especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Diane Lindstrom of St. Paul and sons Ronald (Linda) Mohagen of Vadnais Heights and Mark (Lynne) Mohagen of Elbow Lake; grandchildren Doug (Linda) Mohagen, Tim (Tracy) Lindstrom, Amy Mohagen, Matt (Jes) Mohagen and Courtney (Jason) Puchalski; great-grandchildren McKenna Mohagen, Toby Lindstrom, Gracie Puchalski, and two on the way. Other survivors include sisters Lydia Kath of Dilworth, Christine (Herb) Brown of Kearney, Nebraska, and Lucille (Arlan) Scramstad of Fergus Falls, her best friend Cyndy Nelson, and several nieces and nephews. Mable was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and one sister, and son-in-law Will Lindstrom.
