Mae Ione Erickson was born May 25, 1925, in rural Brandon, Minnesota. She was baptized at the West Moe Church of rural Brandon, grew up in rural Kensington, was confirmed at Solem Lutheran Church of rural Kensington and graduated Kensington High School in 1943. She then attended Normal Teachers Training in Glenwood and taught country school after graduating. Mae married Elton on September 12, 1946, at the West Moe Church and resided on their farm south of Hoffman. Mae and Elton raised six boys, enjoyed the farm life raising Hereford cattle, with numerous cattle trips and visits to the state fair and other cattle shows. Mae enjoyed sewing quilts, flowers, getting together with her teachers group and her trip to Norway and Sweden with her siblings. Mae was strong in her faith and loved time with family especially the children. She was involved in all church activities, and enjoyed reading her Bible. Mae Ione Erickson, 88, died Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Courage Cottage in Morris, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elton Erickson; one son, Daniel Erickson; two sisters, Harriet and Corinne; and one brother, Myron. Mae is survived by her sons James (Terry) Erickson, Jerry (JoAnn) Erickson, Ron (Corinne) Erickson, Tom Erickson, and Mark Erickson; granddaughters Dawn (Dave) Score, Jessica (Chad) Gilbertson and Heather (Jeremy) Goldberg; grandsons Joel (Melany) Erickson, Brandon Erickson and Brady (Kelsey Lohse) Erickson; three step-granddaughters, Alisa Nagel, Katrina Humphries and Kim (Chris) Holste; and 18 great-grandchildren.
