Marlys Dahle, 75, of Elbow Lake, formerly of Wendell, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at her home in Elbow Lake. Marlys Marie Erickson was born on March 16, 1937, in Tintah, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Schuster) Erickson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah. On November 16, 1954, Marlys was united in marriage to Gordon Dahle at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Tintah, and they were blessed with nine children. Marlys and Gordon lived in the rural Elbow Lake area until purchasing a home in Wendell in 1977. During her lifetime, Marlys worked for West Central Community Action for fifteen years, and later as a cook at the Grant County/Prairie Ridge Hospital for twenty years. Marlys had many hobbies, which include fishing, working on puzzles, spending time at the lake, playing bingo, trips to the casino, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren. Marlys was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Elbow Lake, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Christian Mothers. Survivors include eight children: Robert (Cheryl) of Breckenridge, Gordon Jr. (Lynn) of Ozark, Alabama, Kathleen (Larry) Windom of Buffalo, Karen (Kip) Martin of Alexandria, Dean (Deborah) of El Paso, Texas, Kevin (Shirley) of Alexandria, Debra (Henry) Price of Fergus Falls, Cindy (Jeff) Mithun of Glenwood, and Gary (Derek) of Altadena, California; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Peggy) Erickson of Blaine and Lyle Erickson of Coon Rapids; a sister, MaryAnn Savage of Spring Park; brother-in-law, Joe Schneider of Mounds View; and sister-in-law, Margaret Erickson of Bloomington. In addition to her parents, Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, on November 11, 1993; a son, Michael; a grandson, Jacob Dahle; a sister, Betty Schneider; two brothers, Edward and Luverne Erickson; a brother-in-law, Michael Savage; and her in-laws, Carl and Gemelia Dahle. Visitation: 4 - 7 pm Wednesday, 6 pm prayer service, August 1, 2012, at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake; and one hour prior to Mass at the church.
