Melvin E. Conrad

Melvin Eugene Conrad, 76, passed away unexpectedly in his home on October 19, 2022.

Melvin was born April 30^th, 1946, in Iowa to Edward G. and Ellen E. Conrad, and he grew up in Kensington, MN.

He studied chemistry at the University of Minnesota – Morris and went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Chemistry at the University of Notre Dame. Melvin devoted much of his time to serving on the board of the Kensington Historical Society. For many years, Melvin had been working on the Conrad family history and more recently, his son, Nathan, and daughter, Cathy had joined in the research to build the family tree that will be added to and maintained in honor of their father. 

Melvin was married in Morris, MN to Mary K. Blehr, with whom he accepted his stepchildren and step-grandchildren with open arms. Together, Melvin and Mary built a home filled with love and laughter.

Melvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, his step-grandson, Matthew, and both of his parents, Edward and Ellen.

Melvin is survived by two sons, Mark B. (Heather) Conrad of Celina, TX and Nathan E. Conrad of Smiley, TX, two daughters, Cathy A. Conrad of Bedford, TX and Helen E. Conrad of Kingwood, TX and grandchildren Miller and Helaina Conrad and Nathaniel and Courtney Stout. He also leaves behind his stepson, Chad W. Blehr, stepdaughter, Ronda K. (Chad) Simpson, and step-granddaughters, Emilee Blehr, Ellie Blehr, McKenna (Charles) Blehr, and step-grandsons Eric (Kylee) Blehr, and Nick Blehr. He also leaves behind his step-great-grandchildren Penelope, Delilah, Julian, Tate, Taylor, Cooper, Ayla Matty, and his beloved dog Lilly, and numerous friends.

There will be a Visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2022, with a Prayer Service at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Smith Funeral Chapel in Hoffman, MN.
