Nancy Waugh

Nancy Evelyn was born June 14, 1941, to Hugo and Dora (Reuss) Puchalski in Lien Township, Grant County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman, MN. She attended rural country school in Lien township, District 14 and graduated from Barrett High School in 1958. On September 29, 1962, she married Virgil Johnson, and to this union three children were born: Marita, Reginald, and Troy. She was happily married to Virgil until his passing on March 29, 1983. Later, Nancy was united in marriage to Harvey Merrill Waugh on September 29, 1994. They built their new home in Barrett in 2002. Harvey passed away on November 21, 2007.

Nancy spent 29 1/2 years as a Head Cook at the Barrett School and West Central Area Schools. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett where she served on the church council and as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was also a member of the Ever-blessed Quilters at Peace Lutheran and the American Legion Axillary of Barrett. Nancy enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and gardening. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On December 11, 2022, Nancy passed away at the Prairie Ridge Hospital in Elbow Lake, Minnesota at the age of eighty-one years.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hugo and Dora Puchalski; husbands Virgil Johnson and Harvey Waugh; and brother Charles Puchalski.

She is survived by her children Marita (Roger) Rhude, Reginald (Andrea) Johnson, and Troy (Penny) Johnson; grandchildren Corey Ryckman, Aric Ryckman, Alicia (Chad) Meyer, Travis Rhude, Brock (Micaela) Volker, Ryleigh (Andrew) Thompson, Alliah Johnson, Abbey Johnson; great-grandchildren Lateka Ryckman, Layla Ryckman, Isaac Volker, Haley Meyer and Willow Volker; brothers Terry Puchalski, Gerald (Zina) Puchalski, Dick (Diane) Puchalski, Neil (Jan) Puchalski; sisters Elaine Mattison, Betty (Richard) Tweeter, Kelly (Kyle) Purrier; sister-in-law Moe Puchalski; and countless nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service to be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett MN with a visitation beginning an hour prior.  You are asked to bring a handwritten memory of Nancy that Pastor Jean may read during the Memorial Service.

Interment at a later date.
