P. Clifton "Kip" Pederson, 82, of Barrett, died at his home on Febraury 18, 2013. He was born in Lien Township west of Barrett, Minnesota, to Palmer and Bertina (Swenson) Pederson. He was baptized at Bethesda Lutheran Church, confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, both in Barrett, and attended country school at District #53. Kip graduated from the Barrett High School in 1947 and began farming. From 1954 to 1956, Kip served is the U S Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Ft. Corpus Christi, Texas. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the farm where he raised livestock and grain with his father. Kip retired in 1996, but he continued to help his nephews during harvest. Kip was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Barrett American Legion, served as treasurer on the Elk Lake Township Board, and was still serving on the Bethesda Cemetery Board. He enjoyed his day trips to the Dakota's, attending auction sales, threshing shows and the Sisseton Livestock Sales. Kip followed local high school sports and enjoyed all sports. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle and thoughtful man who put others first. Kip is survived by his sister Ardis Ronhovde of Barrett; one niece, Kay Robison, and two nephews, Lee (Pat) Ronhovde and Todd (Sheila) Ronhovde, all of Barrett; and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Merton Ronhovde, one nephew, Clyde Ronhovde, and a nephew-in-law, Gene Robison.
