Paul A. Stark, age 72, of rural Kensington, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014, as a result of a tragic farm accident. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Pastor Nathan Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Friday from 5-7 pm and resume one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Aeneas Cemetery, rural Kensington, in the spring.
Paul was born on February 4, 1942, in Morris, Minnesota, to Reuben and Mildred Stark. He grew up on the family farm in Swan Lake Township, was baptized and confirmed at the Aeneas Lutheran Church, and attended rural school District 34 through the 5th grade. He continued his education at the Hoffman Public School and graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris in 1960. He was in the first class at the U of M Morris campus. Paul also served for six years with the North Dakota Air National Guard. On February 5, 1966, Paul married Wanda Plessner in Bellingham, Minnesota. To this marriage was born two daughters, Mary and Paula, both of whom grew up on the family farm. Paul was a true steward of the land, passionate about the farm. He enjoyed driving the countryside watching the crops grow. He served many years with the Aeneas Cemetery Association, Messiah Lutheran Church and the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation. Paul enjoyed annual trips to Itasca State Park and has attended the Minnesota State Fair every year since the age of 10. He loved time with his grandchildren. Paul will be remembered as a mentor on the farm, in the church, and by all those he came in contact with. He is preceded in death by his parents. Paul is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda; daughters Mary (Eric) Asche of Morris and Paula (Ryan) Haraldson of Kasson; brothers Ken Stark of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rick (Ardis) Stark and Stan (Raelene) Stark, both of rural Kensington; granddaughters Malea Haraldson, Mia Lu Asche and Macie Haraldson, and one grandson, Easton Paul Asche; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials are preferred to the Messiah Lutheran Church Youth "Pay It Forward" fund, or the Aeneas Cemetery Association.
