Elbow Lake

Robert “Bob” Brooks, a beloved resident of Elbow Lake, Minnesota, unexpectedly passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on July 6, 1954, Bob had many passions in life, most notably his love for pool and poker, often gathering friends for spirited games. He was a frequent host of cornhole tournaments and bonfires in his backyard, where he constructed a welcoming bar that became a hub for laughter and camaraderie. Many friends and family have gathered to hand feed the chipmunk he befriended. Bob was also known for his fun Halloween costumes, from the Jolly Green Giant to Grapes from Fruit of the Loom, his playful spirit never failed to entertain those around him.

A dedicated builder, Bob contributed to his community by helping to construct the playground at Tipsinah Mounds that still stands today. He also took great pride in building with his children—Natasha’s house and Steven’s garage.

Bob enjoyed cooking; it all began during his time in the military and further developed while working for many years at Big Chief Café and several other cafes. Most recently worked at Thiele Technologies where he retired from.

He is survived by his four children: Steven Brooks, Natasha Taylor, Robert “Bobby” Brooks III, and Jessica Brooks; his two sisters, Gayle and Debbie; and his brother, Steve. Additionally, he leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends whose lives he touched.

Bob will be remembered as a man with a good heart and an incredible sense of humor—a true friend who cherished gathering people for a good time. A Celebration of his life is planned for the Spring of 2025. His family expresses their profound love for him, as they will all miss him dearly. Rest easy, Bob; your spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those you loved and who loved you in return.
