Rosella Sax, 98 of Hoffman, formerly of Elbow Lake, died Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Hoffman Senior Living Center, Hoffman, MN.
Rosella Christine was born January 24, 1922 in Donnelly Township of Stevens County to Christ and Brita (Lunde) Gudahl. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Kongsvinger Church of rural Donnelly, MN, and attended District #63 School in Donnelly.
On June 30, 1947 she was united in marriage to Clyde Sax. They are the parents of three children, Janet, Carol and Irving. Rosie began married life as a homemaker and helped Clyde on the family farm. She began working as a caregiver in Public Health, finally retiring at the age of 88. In the fall of 1996, Rosie moved into Elbow Lake, and in January 2020 she moved to the Hoffman Senior Living.
Rosie loved supporting her community by volunteering, which she did in many different capacities. She taught Sunday School, was a 4-H leader, youth advisor and helped in her church. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and crafting, bowling, and appreciated the outdoors by going camping, fishing, and golfing. She was very accomplished in knitting & crocheting, making many afghans for family and friends. Rosie belonged to the Legion Auxiliary, Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course, Sons of Norway, and the Sister City Committee. She visited Norway three times, always making new friends. Rosie cherished her years wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona, and the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always a great joy.
Rosie is survived by daughters, Janet Olson of Hoffman and Carol (David M) Slettedahl of Wood Lake, MN and son, Irving (Nola) Sax of Dalton; 6 grandchildren, Randy, Brian (Cindy) Tom (Tina), Bruce (Erin), Alyssa (Ryan) & Molly (Tony); 11 great-grandchildren, Ross, Emma, Wil, Rayna, Charlie, Cody, Zoey, Parker, Hayden, Archie, and Urban; sisters in law, Mary Krueger of Kenmare, ND, Gayle Hoffman of Morris, MN and brother-in-law, Dwaine Christensen of Fergus Falls; one surviving first cousin in Norway, David Tenden and by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clyde, son-in-law, Vernal Olson, two sisters, Agnes Nelson & Dora Behrens and brother, Melvin Gudahl.
PUBLIC Visitation: 12:30 – 2:30PM Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Bethlehem/West Elbow Lake Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake, followed by a PRIVATE Family Service at 2:30PM.

Burial: 3:30 P.M., at West Elbow Lake Cemetery, rural Elbow Lake
