Shirley Ann Fithen was born in Ottertail County on March 29, 1931. She came to live in Barrett in 1978, moving to Steffen Home (later becoming Crosswood Home) until the time of her passing. She worked at the Grant County DAC until a few years ago.
Shirley touched the lives of everyone she met. Through the years she had many housemates and staff that became like family to her. She had special friends that she spent many Christmases with, enjoying her favorite foods and root beer to drink. She was well known in the community and Shirley made many friends along her life’s journey. She was easy to like and always wanted to please people.
Shirley had a great love for music. Through the years, when technology changed and records became a thing of the past, Shirley still loved her turn table. She loved to sit as close as she could to the record and listen to a good polka, gospel or even Johnny Cash.
Shirley was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She always greeted people, shaking their hand, asking their name and how they were doing.
Shirley was a faithful Christian. She believed in Heaven and would talk often about her friends that were there. We will all miss her presence here, but we are glad she is at peace.
