Shirley Olson

Shirley M. Olson, 96 of Elbow Lake, died Friday, September 30, 2022 at her home.

Shirley Mae was born May 1, 1926, in Frazee, Minnesota to William and Pearl (Jensen) Heimark. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith, and graduated from Park Rapids High School. After high school, Shirley worked in an ammunitions plant working for the war effort.

On June 3, 1945, she married Carrol Olson. To this union came four children, Steve, Lonnie, Tim and Kim. Shirley was a homemaker and also helped run the family business, Olson Classic Carpets. She was proud to say that she lived in her home for 77 years that her husband built. Shirley was a member of United Lutheran Church. God bless the memory of Shirley Olson.

Shirley’s grandchildren where the loves of her life. She also enjoyed dancing in her younger years, flowers, cooking and watching polka nights. Shirley and Carrol took the family on trips when the boys were young and even took a couple trips out west on their own.

Shirley is survived by her four sons, Steve, Lonnie (Linda), Tim, and Kim (JoLynn), all of Elbow Lake; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Carrol, and siblings Willis Heimark, Silas Heimark and Phyllis Brock.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 6, 2022, at United Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
