Sylvia Phillips

Sylvia Phillips,87, of Wendell, MN, died on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Barrett Care Center.

Sylvia Hildegarde was born on September 5, 1937, in rural Dalton, the daughter of Halvor and Selma (Brandvold) Aasberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Dalton and attended school in Ashby. Sylvia worked as a housekeeper for her future sister-in-law, Gladys for a brief time.

On February 18, 1961, she married Dean LeRoy Phillips at the Zion Parsonage in Dalton. To this union they were blessed with two children, Donald and Debra. The family lived on the family farm in Wendell, where they farmed grain and raised beef, pigs and chicken. Sylvia was a devoted homemaker as well as helping hand on the farm. 

Sylvia was a member of Zion-Sarpsborg Lutheran Church in Dalton. She enjoyed dancing in her younger years with either her sisters or her late husband, Dean. She enjoyed a good crossword puzzle, watching game shows, reading, tending to her flower gardens and watching the MN Twins whenever they were on. Sylvia could often be found in the kitchen canning or baking a delectable treat. She cherished spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Donald Phillips of Wendell, MN and Deb (Rick) Mickelson of Elbow Lake, MN; two grandchildren, Alyssa (John) Rohloff and Justin Mickelson; four great grandchildren, Indi, Leta, Vera and Will; a sister, Virginia Johnson along with numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean in 2005; and siblings, Elaine Logan, Doris Danielson, Charles Aasberg, Marvin Bolstad and Donna Johnson. Blessed be the Memory of Sylvia Phillips. 

Visitation: Monday, December 9, 2024, from 5-7P.M., at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake, and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Zion-Sarpsborg Lutheran Church in Dalton. 

Interment: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Dalton, MN
