Victor K. Hanson died at his home in Wendell on Wednesday, May 6th. Victor Konrad Hanson was born on October 20, 1928, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to Anton and A. Valdine (Skyberg) Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Aastad Lutheran Church, attended country school, and graduated from the Fergus Falls High School. Following high school, Victor farmed with his father. On September 22, 1954, Victor entered the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. On July 29, 1956, he was honorably discharged. He came home with an engagement ring and married Lenora Julia Jensen on October 21, 1956, in rural Hawley, Minnesota. For the next few years he farmed and attended Wahpeton Tech (now known as North Dakota State College of Science) for auto mechanics. In 1961, Victor and his family of four moved to Seattle, Washington, where he worked as a parts inspector for Boeing Aircraft and was a spare-time auto mechanic. In 1974, he and his family of now six moved to Wendell, where he ran the lumber yard until he became self employed as a carpenter and handyman. Victor served on the Wendell City council for 31 years, 24 of those as mayor, and also 21 years as city maintenance. He was a dedicated member of the Lions Club. Victor found it rewarding doing odd jobs, lawn mowing and working for his friends. He appreciated being invited in for treats and coffee through the years. Victor loved fishing, especially ice fishing! He enjoyed golfing with his Wendell friends and family and was devoted to his wife Lenora, their children, and his four grandchildren. He was a good friend and neighbor. Victor spoke of having had a good, satisfying life and that he was content with each new day. He also assured us of his firm faith in God's promise of the resurrection through Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife Lenora of Wendell; children Randy Hanson of Wendell, Vicki (Stacy) Weatherford of Fosston, Ronald (Laurie) Hanson of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Sherri Hanson of Duluth; grandchildren Joshua (Erica) Weatherford, Rhiana Weatherford, Jessica and Zachary Hanson, and a great-grandchild due to be born in November. Other survivors include his siblings Ruth Hanson of Fergus Falls, Kathryn (David) Thoreson of Mt. Vernon, Washington, Dorothy (Loraine) Gehrke of Campbell,Lyle (Romelda) Hanson of Moorhead, and Gene (Myrna) Hanson of Dalton. Victor was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Richard, sister Lucille (and Howard) Albjerg, and two siblings who died in infancy.
