Violet E. Meyer, 85, of Hoffman, died Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital
Violet Edna Meyer was born July 1, 1924, at Hoffman, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Urbatch) Nordin. She was baptized September 7, 1924, and confirmed June 12, 1938, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hoffman. Violet attended Grant County District No. 2 and graduated from the 8th grade on June 30, 1938, from Grant County Public Schools. She graduated from University of Minnesota West Central School of Agriculture in Morris in 1941. After her marriage to Arthur Frank Meyer on October 4, 1942, they farmed together in the Hoffman area. She really enjoyed taking care of dairy cows, calves and raising a garden. Arthur passed away in 1994 and the farm machinery was sold at public auction on June 12, 1996. Some time later, Violet moved to North Star Manor in Hoffman. Violet enjoyed serving in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief, teaching release time and Sunday school, and volunteering at the Hoffman care center. She also enjoyed singing solos for special occasions and playing the organ they had in their home. She cherished her time with family and friends. We give thanks for her life and the years our Lord gave her to be with us. She is survived by four sons and one daughter: Delano Meyer and his wife Linda, Ilona Larson and her husband David, Jerome and Becky Meyer, Stanley Meyer and his wife Clarine, and Rodney Meyer; ten grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, grandson Daniel Meyer, two sisters, Gladys and Laurane, and one brother, Lester.
