William “Bill” Salter passed away on June 2, 2023, at Bethany on University Nursing Home in Fargo, North Dakota.
William L. Salter Jr. was born November 7, 1962, to parents William and Irene Salter in Kingstree, South Carolina. Bill graduated from Spring Valley High School before attending Midlands Technical College where he earned is associate degree. He joined the army in 1980 and served for five years including some time in Germany before returning home where he became store manager of a CVS pharmacy. On August 22, 1987, Bill was united in marriage to Cindy (Kaylor). In 2005, they moved to Elbow Lake, Minnesota where he worked as a truck driver and later NAPA before his retirement. Bill and Cindy resided in Elbow Lake for over 17 years.
Bill enjoyed spending his days as Post Commander of the Elbow Lake Legion Post 321 and was a devoted member of the Elbow Lake Baptist Church for eight years.
He enjoyed visiting Holden Beach, spending time with his dogs: Bella, Nina, Samie and Roxie, and cheering on his favorite football teams, the Clemson Tigers and The NDSU Bison. He could often be seen sporting a pair of cowboy boots and a large belt buckle. Culvers and Chick-Fil-A were his favorite places to go grab a large sweet tea, which he drank like it was going out of style! Bill was a caring man who loved the Lord beyond measure and enjoyed sharing God’s word through the end of his days.
He is survived by his wife Cindy; children: Shanna (Michael) Busser, Matthew (April) Salter, Megan (Alex) Dornbusch, Taylor Endreson, Rebekah Salter; seven grandchildren; siblings Sherry (Derek) Heard, Jeff (Dana) Salter, Michael (Stefanie) Salter, Damon (Linda) Sawyer, adopted sister Kay Salter Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and William Salter Sr., stepfather Mike Sawyer, stepmother Clarice Salter, four grandparents and former wife Paula Endreson-Salter.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Elbow Lake Baptist Church. No visitation will be held prior to the service. Military Honors will be held in front of the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309.
